After 45 days of walking, Chris finally made it from Bar Harbor in Maine to his final destination, Raleigh North Carolina. In total Chris walked 1,000 miles down the east coast of the United States and walked through 12 states.

“The journey was a real physical challenge, every day my feet became more painful and every step was harder to take than the last”, said Chris who suffered a number of injuries during the challenge. “The real challenge however was the mental and emotional one. With so much expectation and so much riding on the success of the walk, plus a lot of time alone to think and worry, my mind took me to some dark and lonely places.”.

Crossing the finish line of the walk at Raleigh Central Fire Station, Chris was met by colleagues from the British Army stationed in Fort Bragg, Representatives of the local government, local well-wishers and of course the crew of the Fire House who hosted him for the evening.

The walk raise more than $125,000, all of which will go towards funding research into treatments for CdLS and future clinical trials for the gene therapy being developed by for Hope for Hasti.
